Poetry

Definition: A written work of art that is expressed in writing about emotions, feelings, and thoughts. Very often, poetry includes figurative language, rhythm, and imagery.

 Example:
"Love is not a thing to understand.
Love is not a thing to feel.
Love is not a thing to give and receive.
Love is a thing only to become
And eternally be"

Significance: You would use this in your studies to express how you feel about something or someone. Reading poems will allow you to more about the author of the poem. You will also be able to learn more about the culture and the person writing the poem. This is important to Language Arts because you will be able to know how to write in different forms. Poems often include figurative language which enables you to learn more about language arts.You will be able to know the feelings of the author when you read it.
